Femme à sa toilette, the subtle balance of an intimate moment.

Jules Delaunay depicts a very pretty young woman in front of her jewelry cabinet, her hand holding a pearl necklace. She seems hesitant about her choice of necklace. It’s the very last touch of seduction to perfect your grooming, before putting on your coat and heading out the door.
She’s from behind, not looking at the viewer, which helps create the impression of intimacy.

A feminine, refined painting of great delicacy,

Grace, delicacy, subtlety, refinement: the charm is in this painting.
The elegant, white satin-covered case is of the utmost elegance. Her hair, with cascading golden curls, is adorned with small white flowers. Her deep-blue fur-trimmed coat contrasts with the whiteness of her dress.
The interior is opulent. A bouquet, a fan and jewelry are arranged on the console opposite.
The satin of the dress shimmers in the lovely light diffused by the window, thanks to the impasto of paint that catches the light.the background is elaborate; the furniture, a painting hanging on the wall, the tapestry patterns on the walls and the carpet.
