Talented ironworker, painter and draughtsman, Catalan artist Julio González stands out as one of the most innovative sculptors of the 20th century.
He is considered by art historians to be the founding father of modern iron sculpture, and an essential inspiration for many artists who have followed in his footsteps.

Bibliography

After arriving in Paris in 1900, Julio González spent his life and his entire career as a sculptor in the cosmopolitan and artistic Montparnasse district, in close contact with the exiled Spanish community.
From 1928 to 1932, he worked closely with Pablo Picasso, in particular on new iron welding techniques applied to Cubist sculpture.
