Specialized in horse paintings, Karl Georg Arsenius represents a training scene of racehorses, certainly in the environment near Chantilly.
An impressionist technique, painted on the spot, a soft and colorful palette.
The painting is painted with spontaneity and dynamism. Light colors and a diffuse light bathe the scene.
Biography
Carl Georg Arsenius is a Swedish painter, active in France.
He began his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm and then continued them in Paris in the workshop of Jean Paul Laurens. 3 years later, he left Sweden to live in Vineuil near Chantilly.
He became a renowned animal painter. He exhibited successfully and received many awards. After the success of his painting Retour de Longchamp and his Cheval d’omnibus, he quickly turned to paintings of horses.
He was frequented by the aristocracy, notably King Oscar II for whom he painted many equestrian portraits.
