This early work by Andr\u00e9 Barbier testifies to the painter’s best period: his twenties, when he met and worked with Claude Monet.
\nThe painting dates from the time when the Barbier family made frequent visits to Wilmereux on the Opal Coast. The young painter’s touch is dynamic, lively and worked at the same time. <\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Barbier, a sensitive Impressionist painter.<\/h3>\n

With his great sensitivity, Andr\u00e9 Barbier captures a fleeting moment in time. He plays with the clouds and the foam of the waves of a rough sea, on which he shimmers the reflections of the rosy sky of a late seaside day.
\nThe palette is tender; he plays with the rosy blues with which he creates beautiful variations. <\/p>\n

Biography<\/span><\/h4>\n

Andr\u00e9 Barbier moved to Paris, where he became a friend of Impressionist genius Claude Monet, Alain Marquet, Maurice Denis and Georges D’Espagnat…<\/p>\n

From then on, he attended all the fairs: he donated his paintings to show them at the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. His career is long, he exhibited at the Salon des Ind\u00e9pendants from 1903 to 1938. He subsequently held solo exhibitions at the Galerie Durand-Ruel and the Katia Granoff Gallery.<\/p>\n

He painted many landscapes of Paris and its close suburbs, Normandy, the C\u00f4te d’Azur and Italy.<\/p>\n

He is renowned for his generous, altruistic character. His open mind is passionate about music, astronomy and photography.<\/p>\n

His technique proves his intimate understanding of the subtleties of Impressionism and his personal sensitivity to the endless play of light.<\/p>\n
