A floating market scene in the Bay of Naples
The scene takes place at sea. The painter plunges us into the magical setting of the Bay of Naples.
In one of the boats, women with their children, protected from the sun by an awning, in the other boat, fishermen offering their fish for sale. The scene is lively and colorful.

François Dubois is a French neo-classical painter of history, portraits and landscapes.
He joined the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1813, where he was a pupil of the painter Jean-Baptiste Regnault. He exhibited from 1814 to 1861;
He won numerous awards, including the Prix de Rome in 1819 for his work Themistocles takes refuge with Admetus, King of the Molosses.
He is also an Orientalist painter. He was well known for his numerous napolitan landscapes.
